Bushmills distillery
The Old Bushmills distillery is located in Bushmills, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The company that founded the distillery was formed in 1784, although an official license for whiskey production in the area was granted in 1608.
Hugh Anderson is considered to be the founder of the distillery, and in the years to come it would change many hands.
By using only 100% malted barley the distillery built its reputation and started exports as well.
The SS Bushmills, a steamship owned by Bushmills, made it to America in 1890, delivering its Whiskey to the New World.
In 1988 Pernod Ricard would take control and the distillery was sold in 2005 to Diageo, only to be sold again in 2014 to Casa Cuervo.
The distillery’s output nowadays can reach approximately 4,5 million liters per year.
