The distillery was one of the first distilleries to start experimenting with different kinds of casks when it comes to maturation, like Marsala wine casks and sherry casks.

MacDonald & Muir would become the new owners in 1920 and during the 1950s an expansion with the addition of new stills and changes in the malting process would take place.

Glenmoangie acquired the distillery in 1996 and during this time Glen Moray would become a budget friendly malt. This strategy did not offer much and as a result the distillery was sold again to LMVH in 2004 only to be sold one more time in 2008 to La Martiniquaise who are the current owners.

Today the distillery can reach a capacity to approximately 3,5 million liters per year.
