Glenlossie Distillery
Glenlossie distillery is located in Elgin, Moray. It was founded in 1876 by John Duff, Alexander Allen, HMS Mackay and John Hopkins.
The distillery ran under Duff’s management until 1896, when Mckay succeeded him in this position.
In 1919 the distillery became part of DCL’s distilleries. Ten years later a major fire was not able to stop the distillery’s further development and by 1930 Glenlossie distillery would be part of Haig’s portfolio.
In 1962 the number of the stills in the distillery was raised to six, while in 1971 a second distillery was built in the same site, under the name “Mannochmore”.
Although the two distilleries have a connected history, they operate separately and share the same warehouses.
As a key ingredient in Diageo’s blends, Glenlossie rarely is bottled as a single malt expression. In 1990 a ten year old single malt expression of the distillery was released as part of the flora & fauna range.
