Glentauchers Distillery
Glentauches distillery is located in Mulben, Keith. The distillery was founded in 1898 by James Buchanan & Co.
The distillery was built in order to provide whisky for the Buchanan and Black & White blends.
That’s why in 1910, Glentauchers distillery started experimenting with continuous pot still distillation.
In 1925 Buchanan & Co merged with DCL while in 1966 four new stills were installed, increasing the total number of stills to six.
The decrease in whisky sales forced the distillery to be closed in 1985 while 4 years later it was acquired by Allied Distillers. Production was resumed in 1992 and in 2005 when Allied Distillers became part of Pernod Ricard, the distillery joined the Chivas Brothers portfolio.
Almost all of the approximately 4,3 million liter annual capacity is used in blend, and the bottlings with single malt expressions from Glentauchers distillery are extremely rare.
