Ian Macleod Distillers
Ian Macleod Distillers is one of the most known independent family firms in the spirits industry in Scotland. The company was founded in 1933.
Leonard Russell Senior, whose family would later acquire the Ian Macleod & Company Ltd, founded his own whisky broking company in 1936. He died 20 years later in 1956, and in 1963 the Russell family acquired the Ian Macleod & Company Ltd.
Peter Russell would become the Managing Director while his younger brother David, joined the company one year later in 1964.
After acquiring several brands, the company set up its own bottling operation in 1984. Several acquisitions followed while after the purchase of Glengoyne distillery and Langs brands, the company changed its name to today’s Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd.
Ian Macleod Distillers today is represented by an extended whisky range which consists of different types of Scotch bottlings.
