Tomintoul Distillery
Tomintoul distillery is located in Kirkmichael, Speyside. It is named after the nearby village of Tomintoul and it was founded in 1964 by Hay & MacLeod and W. & S. Strong.
In 1973 Scottish & Universal Investment Trust, bought Tomintoul distillery and White & Mackay and in 1974 two more stills are added, increasing the total number to four.
In 2000 Angus Dundee would become the new owner of the distillery and although the majority of their production is sold for blending purposes, several single malt expressions are released including a peated bottling named “Old Ballantruan”
The distillery is sourcing its water from Ballantruan Spring in order to keep up with the current 3,6 million liters annual capacity.
