Helios Distillery
Helios distillery is located in the city of Nago, Okinawa. It was founded by Tadashi Matsuda in 1961.
The original distillery was built at Naha city, under the name Taiyou Distillery. In 1969 the corporate name was changed to “Helios”
The distillery became known for holding different licenses in spirit production, using local material from Okinawa. By using local sugar cane the distillery became famous for their rum production.
Sochu, Awamori, and Craft Beer are some of the products that are produced in the distillery.
The range of the whisky from Helios distillery is released under the name “Kura” and consists of blended and single malt expressions as well.
The whisky that comes from the distillery is known for the touch of Japanese peat and rum cask aging.
