Deanston Distillery
Deanston distillery is located on the banks of River Teith near Stirling. It was founded in 1966 by Brodie Hepburn.
Richard Arkwright built a huge plant and a cotton mill in the area in 1785. At some point the plant would be the working space of more than 1,500 people until 1965 when Hepburn bought the site and transformed it to a whisky distillery.
Production began in 1969 but only three years later, the distillery would be sold to Invergordon.
In 1982 the distillery was forced to close and 8 years later in 1990 Burn Stewart bought the distillery and reopened it one year later in 1991.
The majority of the approximately 3 million liter annual capacity is used for single malt bottlings, while a turbine house provides the required electricity for the distillery.
