Blair Athol Distillery

Blair Athol distillery is located in Pitlochry, Perthshire in the Highlands and it was founded in 1798 by Robert Robertson.

Its first name when it was founded was “Aldour” after the Allt Dour burn that supplied it with water.
The initial start was not a success and soon the operation had to close.

In 1825 John Robertson acquired the distillery and at that time it was enlarged and got the name “Blair Athol”
Several owners took control, until 1932 when the distillery was closed.

Arthur Bell & Sons bought it just before World War II but the mothballed distillery didn’t resume production until 1949 when it was rebuilt.

Finally Diageo gained ownership until today.

Most of its 2.5 million liters per year output is used in blends and mainly in Bell’s blended Scotch whisky.
As a Single Malt it can be found as its sole bottling (Blair Athol 12 flora & fauna) or bottled from independent bottlers.
