Glengoyne Distillery is located in Dumgoyne, Highlands. The word “Glengoyne” comes from Gaelic “Glen Guin” which means “Glen of the Geese” and refers to migrating geese that visit the hill near the distillery every winter.

There were several distilleries in the area that were producing whisky without a license (due to its high cost).
George Conell was the first to get a legitimate license and built the distillery in 1833 which was named “Burnfoot distillery”

In 1876 the distillery was sold to the Lang brothers who were responsible for changing the name from “Burnfoot” to “Glengoyne “ distillery.

Robertson & Baxter Group acquired the distillery in 1965. Almost immediately the distillery was improved until finally Ian Macleod became the owner in 2003.

Glengoyne is known for the longest distillation process in Scotland while the casks that are used for maturation are carefully selected with a combination of European and American oak barrels.
