Chivas Regal 25 year old

James was born in 1810 while John was born four years later in 1814. The life in a remote farm with the rest of their family didn’t match their ambition and in 1836 the two brothers moved to Aberdeen in search of a better life.

James began working in a luxury grocery store owned by William Edwards and became a partner two years later in 1838. Three years later, after Edwards passed away, Charles Stewart would run the business along with James Chivas and in 1843 they were granted a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria.

James and John were already experimenting in whisky blending in the basement of the grocery and soon the whisky they were creating and selling became popular. In 1854 they presented their first blended whisky named Royal Glen Dee. Three years later, Stewart left the business, John stepped in and the name of the company would be changed to “Chivas Brothers”.

Alexander Chivas, son of James Chivas, was the last family member that owned the business until 1893, when he passed away.

The new owners focused on whisky production and in 1909 Chivas Regal 25 year old was released. It was the first luxury blended whisky and the reputation of the brand spread globally.

After a few changes in ownership status Pernod Ricard is the parenting company of Chivas Brothers Holdings, since 2001.
