Scapa Distillery

Scapa distillery is located in Kirkwall, Orkney. It was founded in 1885 by John Townsend, a blender from Glascow.

A major fire almost destroyed the distillery in 1919 but it was rebuilt. In 1936 Bloch Bros would be the new owners of the distillery before selling it to Hiram Walker in 1954.

In 1954 a Lomond still was installed and remained active until 1979. The distillery would remain operative mainly for blending purposes until 1994, when production ceased.

In 2004 Scapa 14 year old was released,while after a major refurbishment which was completed one year later, Pernod Ricard would become the new owners up to today.

Operated by a handful of employees , the two still of the distillery reach an annual capacity of over million liters.
