An older and rare bottling of the classic ten year old representative of Talisker distillery, carrying the "Stone" label, in honour to the Cullin Hills in the Isle of Skye.
Talisker distillery is located in Carbost, in the isle of Skye. The distillery was founded in 1830 by two brothers, Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill.
The operation did not go as planned, and in 1880 Roderick Kemp and Alexander Allen would buy the distillery.
Soon afterwards the distillery was expanded and rebuilt and in 1892 Kemp sold his share and by 1895 Thomas Mackenzie would be the new owner.
In another change of ownership status, in 1916 a group of investors took control with the likes of John Walker & Son and John Dewar as the most recognisable members of this group.
In 1960 a fire destroyed a major part of the distillery and closed it, only for a short two years, as after 1962 the distillery was rebuilt and resumed production.
After 1997, Diageo became the sole owner
The water source is always a problem for distilleries that are located in islands, but for Talisker the Cnocnan Speireag Burn solved the problem, offering the ability of a yearly capacity of approximately 3,8 million liters in the distillery.
